Averys Cafe hosts two gallery walls each
month. Dorian McGowan, long time art professor at Lyndon State College
has the East wall reserved for him alone. His last Show "TIN" displayed
several pieces made out of tin cans from the pantry of Averys Cafe.
He depicted an elaborate hinged marionette called "Black Knight",
a Madonna, other graceful shapes.
The west wall is reserved for a rotation of Vermont artists. Recent
shows include the pastels of Annie Gould of Montpelier (www.anniegould.com),
oil paintings of Karen Dawson of Burlington (under "check out the
art gallery" at www.averyscafe.freeservers.com),
and others. Painter Jessica Neary formerly of Montpelier hung a
show of oil on canvas paintings and pastels April 2, 1999 through
May 1999. Her vibrant imagery includes a reclined polar bear, bunnies
and larger oil paintings such as her "Queen of Hearts".
The next show on the west wall will be the free spirited folk art
of Montpelier's Jessica Chaves. Her art show is currently hanging
on three walls of the second floor of the State House. A portion
of that show will hang in Averys beginning some time in May 1999.
